Practice game: keep the book

Record every play on the two practice sheets, in order, the way you would at the table. Four 8-minute quarters; the clock shows the time left in the quarter. At the end of each quarter, check your book against the scoreboard line. Then compare it with the answer key. Every team, number and play is invented.

Rules scope: generic. Every free throw comes from a shooting foul, no team reaches a bonus, nobody comes close to fouling out and the scorer follows the officials' signals, so no league's rules decide anything here.

How this works

The sheet has one page per team: points by period, a row per player with foul boxes, a box per period for scoring marks and a points total, team fouls, timeouts and a running score. In the practice game every play's mark, the running score, the quarter scores and the answer key come from the same list of plays, so they always agree: each team's quarters add up to its final, its players' points add up to the same total, and the running score ends there. A correction changes one play and everything that depends on it, and nothing else.
